A study found that men who ate fried food up to three times a week had, on average, an 18 percent greater chance of developing heart failure. If you love your fried foods and fast foods, you are going to need to curb your habits and that’s one of the top contributors to heart disease and heart attacks. The salt, sugar and fat in the fried foods is both addictive and not at all healthy, so find alternatives for fried foods and explore options with vegetables and whole grains.

4. Ketchup

Condiments like ketchup and some salad dressings are high in sugar and refined carbs.  A study showed that people who ate excessive sugar (more than 25% of their daily calorie intake was from sugar) were over twice as likely to die of heart disease than those who consumed 10% or less added sugar each day. While we all like a condiment or two when we are enjoying a meal, avoiding the sweetness of ketchup and experiencing the flavor of the food itself will bring out much more benefits from the food without it being covered in a layer of sugary sauce.
