Chocoholic is a real term, and it is not just for the people who love chocolate, but those who simply can’t say no to it. Are you in this basket – or chocolate box?

2. Coffee

We all know that person that is constantly in coffee shops, for meetings, for work, for catch ups and by themselves. Caffeine is addictive and it is prevalent in coffee, we all know when we feel like one, crave on and need one just to get things moving in the morning. It will most certainly make you more alert and some people crave that feeling more than the coffee itself.

3. Sugar

Your waistlines least favorite friend. If you can’t say no to sweets, cakes and soda pops, then you may be a little addicted to my friend. However, with ties not only to weight gain but diabetes, you may want to rethink your addiction to this sweet treat, with an additional rate higher than another white powder…cocaine!

4. Prescription Drugs

Can’t sleep, have a headache, have anxiety, no worries there is a pill for that. The pharmaceutical industry is set to exceed $1.2trillion by 2020 and has made large profits on providing drugs to sooth almost every known ailment. However, these can come at a cost, as patients end up hooked to the drug itself due to overuse or even prescribed use and become addicted. These can include painkillers, anti-depressants, and stimulant drugs post operations. Sadly these have lead to many preventable deaths through overdoses, so if you are concerned with this sort of addiction, please see your doctor.

5. Junk Food

The cure to tiredness, the dreaded trip to the junk food vending machine. If you are addicted to junk food, then you are getting sugar, fat, preservatives and very little nutritional content in your food intact. The major FMCG and fast food companies have spent millions on creating products that leave you wanting more, loving their wares and what do you know…leave you hungry an hour or so later. If you can, try and change over to a bit more fruit and vegetable gradually.

6. Cell Phones

The addition is so bad that all you need to do is visit a diner, stand on a train or walk on the sidewalk and people just can’t help themselves to scroll through Instagram or stay connected. Leading to a wide range of FOMO (Fear of missing out), lack of social interactions, anxieties and even increasing the number of pedestrian incidents as people can’t walk on the sidewalk without being on them.

7. Internet

The internet of everything. The web is how we shop, get news, get just about everything. Nearly every business in the western world can’t start up without being online. However, when you leave the office you get online at home, on the phone, on the email, on the computer, even stream the TV. What about Terminator Genisys…just saying, it is scary how this ‘could’ happen, it’s not too far off where our internet companies are working these days…
