In the great words of Ned Stark, Winter is coming. If you don’t know who Ned is, look him up. Anyway, winter is coming and you need winter warmers to ensure your body has all the nutrients, vitamins and minerals required to get through to when the sun is out and the birds are singing again.

Not only will it keep you full, warm you up, but these 5 food groups will assist in boosting your immune system to keep you fighting the fight and full of energy in the cold winter months.


Filled with antioxidants, healthy fats, and energy, buts are a great fuel source to beat the winter blues. Ideally eating raw or roasted, with limited salt, sugar or flavoring added. Almonds, Cashews, Peanuts, and Pistachios are a great source of nutrients and will make you feel full, quicker.


The perfect start to a cold winter’s morning, Oatmeal will fill your tummy with warm goodness that with its slow GI release, high fiber, and low sugar & fat, this winter warmer will make you feel full until lunchtime & encourage inner health & wellbeing – who thought something that tasted so good could be so good for you.

Root vegetables

Starchy vegetables such as Potatoes, Sweet Potatoes & leeks are fantastic for soups, roasted or braised meals – not to mentioned mashed – to be the centerpiece or the side accompaniment to any winter meal. With their massive amount of nutritional value, they are great to get you through the colder months. Mind you, some – such as potato – should be eaten less than others – Sweet Potato – due to their higher starch & carb content.


As well as fending away the vampires amongst us, Garlic is the ultimate weapon in terms of fighting off the common colds and flu. It is a superfood that high in allicin, as well as flavor that can fight infections, support white blood cells and make most savory dishes taste great!


Filled with fiber, protein, and antioxidants Chilli is not loved by everyone, but for those who love it – they really love it. Filled with high nutrient foods such as beans, peppers, onions, garlic and tomatoes, Chilli can blast away most colds and flu, while the hot temperature most chili is served at will keep you warm for hours to come. Served with some coriander, corn chips or tortillas, you are adding corn to the mix for good measure.
